On Saturday (7/9) a field study for the course “Consumption and Lifestyle” was held at the Kemuning Tea Factory in Karanganyar, Central Java. A total of 26 students from the 2023 batch of the master’s students of KBM program participated in this activity with great enthusiasm. They had the opportunity to tour the factory and observe the production process of raw tea materials, which are then sent to various factories to be processed into tea products.
During the visit, the students were accompanied by a guide from Kemuning Tea Plantation and witnessed firsthand the old production machines that date back to the Dutch colonial era. In addition, they were also invited to observe the parts of the tea plant that are typically consumed and view the tea plantation, which is now managed by Kodam IV/Diponegoro. The visit concluded with a tea tasting of Kemuning Tea Plantation’s brewed tea.
This field study activity is expected to provide a refreshing break for the students before they enter the thesis proposal writing phase, which is anticipated to require significant time and effort.
