On Monday, November 11, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the Master’s Program in Media and Cultural Studies, Graduate School, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a Guest Lecture for the Screen Studies and Visual Culture class with Dr. Chung Ji Pyo, M.Sn. In this session, 26 students explored the topic “Anti K-Pop on Social Media in Indonesia.” Dr. Chung Ji Pyo discussed how stereotypes commonly found on social media about South Korea shape Indonesian netizens’ perceptions of the country. These stereotypes often influence the ways in which Indonesians understand South Korean society and culture. Through this guest lecture, Cultural and Media Studies master’s students gained cross-cultural dialogue experience on issues mediated through screen culture.
