KBM’s 2025 Community Service Program Becomes a Platform for Youth to Speak Out Against Gender-Based Violence

The opening of the Community Service (Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat/PKM) series by the Media and Cultural Studies (Kajian Budaya dan Media/KBM) Study Program on Friday (July 4th) was successfully held in collaboration with the Institut Français d’Indonésie (IFI) Yogyakarta. The event began with a photo and infographic exhibition attended by participants from various backgrounds.

Carrying the theme “Say No to Discrimination and Gender-Based Violence!”, KBM’s PKM program served as a space for young people to showcase their creativity and speak out against injustice and gender-based violence in their surroundings.

Wisnu Bayu Wardana, a contributor to the photography exhibition with his work titled “Ashes, then Wings”, shared that the event provided a platform to voice his reflections on violence, oppression, and other forms of injustice, expressed through the quietest language.

As an artist, Wisnu felt that the PKM KBM event was truly meaningful, as it offered a space for people to raise issues often considered taboo in society. He hopes similar events in the future can continue to amplify marginalized voices.
