The Media and Cultural Studies (KBM) Program wrapped up 2024 with an Academic Development Meeting on Wednesday (18/12), held at Ar+otel on Jalan Kaliurang Km 5. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Wening Udasmoro, D.E.A., M.Hum., Prof. Dr. Heru Nugroho, Prof. Dr. Phil. Hermin Indah Wahyuni, and Prof. Dr. Lasiyo. During the meeting, the management of the KBM Master’s and Doctoral programs presented the current academic situation and the challenges they are currently facing and anticipate in the future.
This meeting was held as part of the program’s commitment to maintaining the academic quality of the KBM master’s and doctoral programs. During the session, the program management consulted the latest developments in the field with senior professors who are part of the KBM academic development team. “Some policies need to be held off for now while monitoring potential regulatory changes from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, due to the recent ministerial transition,” remarked Prof. Dr. Wening, D.E.A., M.Hum., who also serves as UGM’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, addressing several adjustments planned for the UGM Graduate School.
By updating issues to be implemented into the curriculum, the KBM program is expected to maintain its relevance and alignment with current social developments. This ensures that KBM students (and prospective students) can remain confident in the program’s commitment to providing high-quality education that aligns with the latest issues in the humanities.
